Residents Abroad Electorate

In view of the National Elections to be held in 2023, Greek citizens, if they wish, can exercise their right to vote in Australia by registering on the Specific Electoral Rolls for Residents Abroad.

Registration in the Specific Electoral Rolls for Residents Abroad can be achieved after submitting an Application for Registration on the Ministry of the Interior’s platform: www.apodimoi.gov.gr.

A prerequisite for registration is that voters must cumulatively meet the following criteria:

  1. have resided for a total of two (2) years in Greece during the last thirty-five (35) years from the date of the submission of the Application for Registration;
  2. have filed a Tax Return in Greece in the current or previous Tax year.

It is noted that in order to exercise their right to vote in the 2023 National Elections, it is necessary for voters to have registered in the Specific Electoral Rolls for Residents Abroad, twelve (12) days before the announcement of the elections.

In order for a Residents Abroad Electorate to be established, the number of voters must not be less than forty (40) voters.
